Fourteen nursery school and elementary school teachers from Prague visited us at the end of a lovely week with the children. With two valued members of staff off, the team rallied to make everyday work seamlessly. The children have had such a contented, happy, and productive time.
Then we prepared for these lovely visitors who have been seeing schools in London. The object was for us to share something of our life and pedagogy with those from a different background. We were also intent on offering hospitality through one of our excellent dinners. Then, ten minutes before their bus arrived, down the path to the plat came one unannounced Council Food Hygiene officer to inspect the kitchen. Consternation!!! Would the kitchen cope? Of course – to perfection.
Having toured the site, eaten lunch, come to the Bible story and songs session in the yurt, our delightful guests taught the children a little Czech. Visits like this are of such mutual benefit and encouragement.
